What is Interventional Radiology?
Interventional Radiology is the minimally invasive and image-guided treatments that once required open surgery. Our board-certified physicians specialize in utilizing recent advancements in advanced imaging (Ultrasound, CT, X-rays, MRI), for treatments that are typically less risk, less pain and a shorter recovery time than open surgery. Interventional Radiologists can see inside your body and to treat complex conditions, including cardiovascular disease and cancer, and treatments are less invasive with increased precision and shorter hospital stays. Therapies include embolization, angioplasty, stent placement, thrombus management, drainage, and ablation, among others
About the Interventional Radiology Procedure
During our Interventional Radiology procedures, our physicians work with our expert team of nurses and technologists using X-rays, CT, ultrasound and advanced imaging techniques to direct a thin tube or catheter to a specific location in the body to diagnose or treat disease. The main advantage of this procedure is that it often results in the treatment to be done with less damage to the surrounding healthy tissue than traditional surgical methods.
